About Catherine

The Past

I’ve always believed that stories have the power to shape the world, and my journey has been dedicated to exploring just how far that power can go. I wrote my first novel in fourth grade (published by the esteemed house of Mom & Dad) and only got more serious from there. I’ve followed the thread of narrative from academia to non-profits, startups, and global entertainment companies, constantly seeking new ways to harness the art of storytelling for change. As an innovator in digital and social media, I’ve had the privilege of building platforms and strategies that help others tell their stories—whether that’s been girls learning to find their voice or global brands multiplying their audiences of millions. At Disney, where I served as Head of Content and Editor-in-Chief for the interactive media division, I led teams that crafted narratives to capture imaginations across the world. Throughout my career, I’ve collaborated with creatives and innovators—from mom bloggers to Yo-Yo Ma—and each partnership has reaffirmed what I’ve always known: the best stories are the ones that move us, challenge us, and push us toward something bigger.

The Now

My beautiful charmed life turned upside down, and my own teachings slapped me in the face: stories are not just things we tell—they are things we live. And I realized that I wasn’t just interested in shaping narratives from the outside—I wanted to step inside them, to see what happens when we start treating life itself as a story in the making. So I’ve turned my attention to something even bigger than storytelling: the pursuit of magic—not the sleight-of-hand kind (though I love a bunny pulled out of a hat), but the everyday, world-shifting kind. The kind that exists in moments of deep connection, in the alchemy of creativity, in the way a single idea can reframe everything we thought we knew. I write, I speak, and I search—for wonder, for meaning, for the invisible forces that shape our lives. I believe magic is real, not because it defies reality, but because it expands it. And now, my work is about inviting others into that search—through words, through conversation, through experiences that make the ordinary feel extraordinary.

The Future

(Another Name for Now)

Time is a trick of perspective, a clever illusion—like a story we tell ourselves about what comes next. In truth, it’s all happening at once. The past is still whispering, the present is already shifting, and the future is just now, seen from a different angle. But if we must pretend it’s ahead of us, then here are the obsessions, questions, and wild bets I’m chasing into the so-called future:

The Expanding Edges of Storytelling – How narrative evolves in an era where AI can write, VR can immerse, and audiences can co-create. What happens when stories are no longer linear but living?

Magic as a Way of Seeing and Storymaking – Not tricks, but transformation. How do we cultivate wonder as a daily practice? What ancient wisdoms and modern discoveries point to something more? What is spellcasting in a narrative?

Performance, Presence, & Peopling – Writing is one form of storytelling, but what about the body? The voice? The unscripted, live-wire energy of being in the room, in the moment—in community?

The Story at the End of the World – There’s a story ahead of us that is waiting to be found, written, conjured, manifest — something—and it will mark the end of the current world and usher in a new one. What is this story? How will it take shape?

Pilgriming the Present – What does it mean to live in the now when everyone wants to be a futurist? What does it mean to journey in place? What is home in a world where the terra firma is always falling from beneath our feet?

Everything I Can’t Yet Name – The best stories are the ones we don’t see coming. The future, whatever that is, will be full of them.
